A wise decision by Dr. Stallman and the GNU project. By the very design of free software, following the maintainers wishes (and possibly avoiding public discussions and drama) doesn't require them to give up anything, after all they can just make a GNU-fork of libreboot if they have a maintainer and want libreboot in the GNU project at any point in time if they wanted it.

Probably to get input from the Libreboot contributors who weren't named Leah Rowe. A cooling off period for a highly charged/emotional situation doesn't hurt either.

IIRC, Leah Rowe said that a fork would be worse in some ways than not letting Libreboot freely leave GNU.
