Phoronix: You May Want To Think Twice About Trying Linux 4.7 Git Right Now

Since yesterday all 12+ of my systems running daily mainline Linux kernel benchmarks have failed to boot when using Linux 4.7 Git...

No issues here, but I am mounting based on label not UUID.

Mines is booting, but I'm having issues with the ath10k driver and it's causing quite a few freezes, I'll need to bisect it sometime

And no problem with yesterday's (late) git on an AMD FX-9590 over here. I even tested compute shaders with it and I played Alien Isolation during the evening without any problem on a R9 280X.

I use Ubuntu as my distribution. The Ubuntu mainline kernel 4.7-rc1 (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa...7-rc1-yakkety/) does not boot on my Ubuntu 16.04 Server. However, if I compile the kernel myself using the Ubuntu mainline kernel 4.6 (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa.../v4.6-yakkety/) kernel configuration, and accepting all defaults, then the resulting kernel 4.7-rc1 boots, and seems to run, fine.

same problem on ubuntu 16.04 64bit.
i've downloaded linux 4.7 rc1 from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ but on startup i receive same yours errors.
            how to solve the problem?

EDIT: i've compiled manually the kernel 4.7, and now it works (then is only a problem of prebuild .deb packages), i've also enablet CIK for amdgpu and schedutil governor

              I found the offending commit:
ath10k: combine txrx and replenish task 5c86d97bcc1d42ce7f75685a61be4dad34ee8183

Reverting it allows me to use 4.7-rc1 here's the bug report https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=119151

                unix

                And run: sudo update-initramfs
Thank you, it worked also for me!
