How do they verify the applicants' claims that they're trans/genderqueer/whatever the fuck they say they are?

Currently, internships are open internationally to women (cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people. Additionally, they are open to residents and nationals of the United States of any gender who are Black/African American, Hispanic/Latin@, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander. We are planning to expand the program to more participants from underrepresented backgrounds in the future.
What a blatantly and openly racist enterprise.

I notice that RedHat and Intel -- two companies so many of you people here ride the c0cks of all day long -- support this outrageously divisive program. No wonder so many open source projects -- like GNOME -- have turned into complete trainwrecks.

Their ability to organize and fund projects isn't adjacent to their view on minorities in open-source. You seem to be trying to make a relation between the two, while insulting everyone while your at it, which is fallacious.

It's 2PM where I'm at johnc. Try and lay off the sauce.

The Outreachy Summer 2016 internships are open to "internationally to women (cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people. Additionally, they are open to residents and nationals of the United States of any gender who are Black/African American, Hispanic/Latin@, American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander."

Too many words. This could have been written more efficiently. E.g

Outreachy Summer 2016 internships are open to pretty much everyone, unless you happen to be a straight white male.
                There, fixed it for you.

Also, boycott Gnome for their blatant bigotry.

Can someone tell me why in holy hell this blatant racism (no white people) and bigotry (no "cis" etc) is not only socially acceptable but trendy now?

Sexual preference, skin colour, gender, technical proficiency. Only one of these things is relevant to being a good developer.

To everyone complaining: "This round of Outreachy internships is run in parallel with the Google Summer of Code program to encourage more people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply to both." - There, that's your explanation; "underrepresented backgrounds". Can we move on now?
