This is really offensive. Can you try to be a little more PC next time you post?

An unsubstantiated claim, from an anonymous IRC conversation, reported as fact. Hope those clicks were worth it Michael.

What will be interesting is the fallout from this. If Linus verifies these claims as true he sure as hell has enough credibility that even the most precious snowflake posting their sanctimonious outrage on here might just return to tumblr for a few days and leave these forums alone.

It's outrageous for Phoronix to be perpetuating this sexist garbage from Eric Raymond. Not only is the implication completely insane (not to mention self-deluded), but Raymond is explicitly secreting this narrative to provoke a "vicious backlash" and "collective punishment".

I read this site to find out about open source graphics drivers and gaming on Linux. Not to hear about sexist conspiracy theories.

            I blame Sarah Sharp.

Shame on you, Michael. What a despicable excuse for a journalist. Shame on you for fueling this unending shitfest.

And interesting how all of these "horrified" people above only have a couple of posts...

Oh god, watching Larabel deviate from benchmarks is like watching Ben Carson deviate from surgery. I get that "diversification" is all the rage, but entering a new market requires non-zero amounts of competence.

It's one thing when he's covering actual discussions about codes of conduct, or longtime contributors actually leaving developer communities. In this case, he's simply perpetuating an anonymous rumor which outright says it could cause a "vicious backlash". That's totally irresponsible.

He even elevates it's significance to "Report" in the headline, rather than alleged IRC conversation, which it's purported to be.

Giving these people attention is exactly what they crave. Just ignore them and eventually they will go away.
