Yes. I do realise that. However, people make it sound overly dramatic.
It's not like the Soviet Union, The People's Republic of China or North Korea.

I'm not trying to be rude, but you're the one that sounds overly dramatic. The real fact of the matter is that in America there isn't much difference between a conservative and a liberal. The witch hunts don't happen anymore. Get over it. The sooner Americans realize that we are all Americans and there is no difference between us the better off we'll all be. Fuck liberalism and conservatism. Life requires both. If you get a rash, you definitely want to be liberal with the cream. If you earn you're own money then you need to be conservative with it. Everyone is both liberal and conservative depending on their circumstances.

EDIT: Even the environmentalists that are considered extremely liberal tree huggers and whatnot want people to actively try to revert to the stone age. They want you to be conservative with how much you drive and to be conservative by shutting off unused lights. They want you to avoid using a blender if you can get away with not using it.

My point is that this whole idea of conservatives being inferior is bullshit. It usually comes down to that the most liberal people are also the most conservative people. People on both sides are all in fact on the same side.

I want the most talented people there is, to develop the most central piece of software on my system, not that most talented that is willing/capable to put up with a shitty environment. That is quite simply too big a reduction of talented mass.

One would assume that the purpose around Linux kernel development is to develop the best dammed kernel possible and so they should focus on setting up an environment that attract a the best people. Full stop.
