Then what else should I be enthusiastic for my Linux desktop? What does Linux 4.3 and 4.4 bring me for a Kaveri APU? What about getting OpenCL to work with Blender's Cycles engine?

I was very much into Kaveri when it released, but tests convinced me otherwise. There are too many compromises still.
Currently I am dreaming about an 8core CPU, 800-1024 shader core GPU, 2-4 GB HBM (GPU buffer) and external DDR3/4 memory bus APU :-) Even if it eats 125-140W at peak power. Still better than what I have now. I hope I won't have to wait long :-]]

Basically the CPU part throttles too much when GPU is at full swing. If they manage to lower the power requirements on the CPU core and make it throttle less while running full power (CPU+GPU) then the overall performance will increase.
