  • Grsecurity is going to cease public availability of theirs stable set of patches

grsecurity is the only drop-in Linux kernel replacement offering high-performance, state-of-the-art exploit prevention against both known and unknown threats.

Due to GPL and trademark violations.

    It is also discussed there:

I think ceasing grsecurity stable series is important information.

Ceasing public availability would BE a GPL violation if someone ships with those patches obtained through paying for them and doesn't make them available.

Seems to me someone doesn't "get" what GPL means there- I could buy Trademark, but would consider the patch pull as being more than a bit extreme since they'd still have to distribute them, period.

I guess they kinda bet on users not requesting the sources/patches mostly.
As in, common users not caring enough and expert users being able to get the "test" patches and work with them anyway.
