I don't habe got Broadwell but the difference to Haswell is very small from the supported features. Haswell works perfectly with Kodi 14.2 beta (used mesa 10.3.2 and kernel 3.18/3.19). I don't think you should compare it to a high performance gfx cards but it beats lowend cards with ease (those are basically for htpc). Also it does not need much power in idle mode, all dedicated gfx cards need more.

Intel could truly help Microsoft kill Linux and open source. And they would make more money by doing it.

AMD has something similar, and many years ago you could find links to it from their main site. Now it apears to be completely hidden for those who don't know the URL: http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...?id=100&id=101

That sucks. No details about IOMMU/AMD-Vi, AVX, and other stuff.

True, it's not useful to see the difference in features between generations. Fortunately you can find those out easily by reading the reviews on tech sites (and you should do that anyway). And at least AMD does not release crippled editions inside a generation, so you can just pick any Kaveri and be sure it has everything you need.
