Phoronix: Microsoft .NET Compiler Team Switches From CodePlex To GitHub

Microsoft hosts CodePlex as an open-source project hosting service where generally the Microsoft OSS projects call home, but it seems some of their own employees aren't too happy with it and see a brighter future with GitHub...

CodePlex still exists? I figured Microsoft would have abandoned it by now. Last time I attempted to view a project on CodePlex it took three damn minutes to load the page.

Until the article a few days ago about licenses, I didn't even know it existed in the first place ...

Why is it surprising that they still used CP? haha. They still promote IE.

For anyone actually following the .NET opensourcing this isn't a surprise at all, when they announced that they were going to open source the rest of the .NET server stack they said that the same project hosted on github as opposed to codeplex received a lot more commits from outsiders and so as a result they were going to move their open source projects over to github.

I'm not sure which I detest more: Codeplex or Google Code. Both make me wretch.

many C# project still hosting on codeplex, it's not so bad.

many projects still are hosted on sourceforge as well, and I think the "quality" of that is not disputed
