As long there is a common core rather fragmenting with custom approach for the same functionality as happened on UNIX system. Systemd and PulseAudio were made to lower the barrier for desktop environments and other applications.

Are we celebrating crybaby week? This collective victim complex has gone too far... Of course, it makes good clickbait, so it gets propaganda.
But seriously, life isn't easy for anyone. You don't need to believe you are special, but also don't feel ashamed of feeling depressed, let down or whatever. Just keep doing what you think is correct, but make sure you aren't harming anyone.

Right, and that is why it has to be made a bit harder for some.

Do you even understand, that you are defending/apologising all the lowlife haters and trolls out there (and here)?

Liam Dawe's problem is that he is terrible at identifying trolls and subsequently dealing with them in an efficient manner. He needs to take some time acting as a wildlife observer of trolls, then figure out their behavior and psychology.

I'm sure you could do that with initrc, etc., but I could never figure it out.
Just type "reset". This is NOT a init system feature but a terminal feature. ... Unless your init system also provides your terminal of course ..

                Has everyone forgotten...?

That said, I probably fit in the, "Nobody moves, nobody gets hurt" category.

Do you even understand that systemd is making life MORE DIFFICULT for us? Do you even understand that is Poettering the one doing this? Do you even see who is the one being being harmed here? Words pass, actions have consequences. By forcing everyone to use his software, HE IS, IN FACT, HARMING PART OF THE COMMUNITY. And then he cries when people get mad at him. And then his defenders cry foul against that part of the community...
This is software, you don't need to make everything dependent on your piece of software. If you do, you are doing it on purpose.

For the n-th time, I just wonder how new are systemd-lovers to linux. They are just discovering features that have been there for years... they bought the marketing talk and now are wondering why people are mad about it.

So a tiny part of the Linux Community hates SystemD and you expect everyone else to suffer with the crap that was before SystemD?
Who the F is the entitled prick here?
SystemD is better for almost everyone.

Not everything is dependent on this piece of software. Nobody is forcing you to use it. You're free to contribute patches that add support for other init systems for software that supposedly is systemd-dependent... of which I'm not aware of what software is as such.
