OSS4 is superior to both ALSA and PolishAudio, especially when using SDL-coded applications, and it lacks the annoying sound latency issues of both ALSA and PolishAudio ( Because it is easy to make fun of Poland, so why not? ) but that is never going to be the default.
Nice fairy tale. Repeating the same misinformation all over again won't make it true. That post only reinforces what Lennart and other talked about.

    • All TeamBlackFox did was show us how little he knows about Linux, Windows and OS X. Not to mention POSIX, SystemD and PulseAudio. Lennart's right: There are some real haters out there and clearly TeamBlackFox is one of them. The moron actually had the nerve to complain that SystemD as an init system runs at PID 1. OH THE HUMANITY!

      • there's a general rise in trollish behaviour on the internet, it seems that more recent generations become the age of adults but haven't learned any self moderation behaviours, this is coupled with an attitude of entitlement. Many people feel semi anonymous of the internet too, disconnected from the people they engage with.

I am convinced that this combination of lack of self control, lack of manners, semi-anonymity, and feelings of entitlement lead to ass-hole behaviour and trolling.

People will write the most awful things on the internet to or about someone that they would never express out loud in real life, especially not in front of their target.

        • Somebody linked to this video in a reddit comment thread about Lennart yesterday and I think some people here could stand to watch it.

Wow, very educational (in a broad sense about the internet communities), thx for sharing that!

if the two of you want to have an actual technical conversation about what TeamBlackFox said, we can

PulseAudio does add an unreasonable amount of latency to audio, for a couple reasons
one of them being the simple fact that it is a sound server (in case of PA there are more reasons)

do you want to just insult people that do not articulate themselves as good as you would like ?

so far i do not remember a good talk about PA's flaws and merits
actually a technical argument about anything from Poettering quickly turns into "you are too dumb to understand" or "you do not like Lennart so you insult hes software"

              so ye
if you want we can talk technicalities in peace
as much peace as is possible in a technical argument

or we can continue to hate people based on what they think compared to what Lennart thinks
and since he is the messiah, all those who don't agree are trolls and morons
'cuz you know... saying some technical fact on the internets means that you are clearly a moron, no doubt about it

Your post don't contain any relevant information.

Using of PulseAudio is causing problems with e.g. increased latency and CPU usage. There are now over 300 bugs in open state for PulseAudio.
                Examples:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69711 (critical bug - 8 months between reporting with patch and committing)

SystemD has bad impact on security and stability of Linux because of executable running as PID 1 with size over 1300 kB written in dangerous language like C by lax developers has big attack surface.
Crash of PID 1 will crash whole system.
If you make post, post something relevant.

You mean as opposed to a super-secure language like BASH?

Bash doesn't run inside PID 1. Bash can be replaced with other shell or some scripting language.

Let me get this straight: TeamBlackFox posts a hate-filled rant, composed almost entirely of personal attacks against one of hundreds of developers of a project. He or she finished with four "technical arguments", only two of which are actually technical, and one of those has already been refuted and the other is transparently bogus and was addressed as such. Yet you criticize everyone else for not wanting to "talk technicalities in peace"? Sorry, no, if TeamBlackFox wants to "talk technicalities in peace", that is great. But that is not the sort of discussion that TeamBlackFox started.

Ah, I see now. It is only your opponents who should "talk technicalities in peace". People on your side, however, can use personal attacks and baseless dismissal whenever you want. Thanks, that clears things up.
