A lot of linux users take their privacy very seriously so they use addons like blender: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...don/blender-1/

there's no way to know the exact marketshare of linux just using web traffic.

Remember most proxies will be running Linux, so it doesn't really give any indication of desktop share at all.

Assuming most people browsing are of the younger audience, proxies will be very high on the popularity list for avoiding filters.

The blog post may be clean, but it's still hosted at pornhub. No thanks, I'm not clicking that link at work.

No, because they have a less-than-average porn traffic share (when taking market share into account). Mac OS users, on the other hand? well, most office computers are probably running Windows, and I think most people refrain from watching porn at their work place. So maybe that explains the under-representation of Windows.

I like the stats. :-) They also seem to indicate that the gay->Mac myth may not be as far fetched as I thought it to be, since only Mac users have a male porn star in their top 20 search terms. Though I have to admint he doesn't look very twinky or in any way like a typical gay porn actor that a big part of the gay audience would search for. So maybe there are simply more female mac users who love porn compared to other platforms.

Their claim about the Linux ecosystem being public domain is incorrect, obviously?

And yet they are just under 2% traffic...

I suppose you could take some of that 1.7% as proxies too
