what do Cuba or NK have to do with being anti-capitalism?

I'm currently living in a capitalistic country as most of the visitors of this websites do and it sucks. It sucks less than the USA but it sucks. In times of robotics people shouldn't be forced to be farmers or work at assembly belts. Instead everyone should satisfy humanities greatest gift: Our curiosity. Instead we've some very few people actually doing something for humanity (research/science) and a lot of people doing tasks that are just not neccessary. The entire banking/insurance system is completely useless if it weren't for this stupid system.

Well, they are the last great bastions of communism, now that china is experimenting with capitalism.

Although i suspect most of the posters on here wouldn't like communism either. They're more anti-corporatism than pro-anything. And i further suspect that's mainly just because corporatism dominates the current world. Whatever is used most places is automatically hated by a lot of people. There isn't any magical perfect system that everyone would like.

People who think switching from Firefox to Chrome is the way to go need to read a little bit about the purpose of Chrome. Every single thing you type into Chrome gets fed back to Google so they can market new ads to you based on what you type (not necessarily just what you search). So, Firefox puts ads on the "new tab" page while Chrome puts ads pretty much everywhere else.

Also to the anti-capitalists, again you need to read a bit more about what capitalism means. Capitalism is about choice. For example, Mozilla is choosing to embed ads in their web browsers and you are choosing to not use their web browser based on that choice. That is Capitalism (free market, actually, but yeah).

On the Chrome new tab page, i have links showing up to Google search, GMail, Youtube, and something called the Chrome Web Store. I don't even know what that is, so i'm pretty sure i didn't go there and have it added to my list.

So really, Chrome is already doing the exact same advertisements that Firefox is adding, the only difference is that they are advertising Google websites only, while Firefox will presumably have some more variety.

I guess i don't really have a problem with this as long as it stays limited, obviously labelled, and non-irritating. It sounds like it will be that way to start. The real concern is if they let things go and treat this as a slippery slope that they can keep making a little worse each release. Hopefully that won't happen.

                erh that's just wrong.

NK is a dictatorship, that can't be communism by definition.

And Cuba is a mix of socialism and dictatorship

As of now, no country was ever communist driven as it's only possible with robotic technology. As long as even one human has to work to keep the society alive, communism isn't possible. Robotics solve that problem because once they're all set up, you don't need humans anymore for resource harvesting/producing goods.

This also applies to sites using Google ads and Adwords. Mozilla is basically implementing a very lite version of what Chrome already does and people get upset about it. Maybe Mozilla should just pull a Google and not officially announce it.

There's a difference between political systems - democracy, dictatorship, etc. - and economic systems - capitalism, socialism, communism, etc.

You can't conflate the two - saying NK is a dictatorship instead of communism is nonsense.

Well, ok, communism had a political side to it as well, but that's besides the point here.

No country has ever been pure anything. It's impossible. The various systems are described as an idealized reality, there is always compromises of some sort or another in any real world system.

Current US system isn't pure capitalism, for example, because that would by definition have no government regulations on anything and there would be no government programs, subsidies, or tax breaks anywhere either.

There is no good example of true Socialism or Communism. North Korea and Cuba are extremely poor examples because both have extremely strong and authoritarian governments which is perhaps Socialism but not at all Communism. I think Venezuela is probably the best example of Socialism, and even that is a bad example. There has never been a good example of Communism to compare anything against.
