Gnome kills KDE

I swear, people should have to pass an IQ test before they're allowed to have an internet connection and a keyboard at the same time...

There is a real issue here.

1. RHEL can't deliver KDE because a) it employs almost all GNOME developers and b) KDE needs to be updated to work reliably, and RHEL can't deliver updates as fast as needed. RHEL 6 uses KDE 4.3. That says all.

2. Debian had issues packaging KDE. If you want KDE 4.11, you want Debian Testing. SteamOS uses Debian Stable.

If you want an enterprise level distro featuring KDE, you want SLES/SLED. SLES/SLED 11 featured KDE 3.5.10 with an extensive SuSE patchset that became the basis of the only true bugfixes delivered with Trinity. SLES/SLED 12 is going to be the release with an enterprise-level Plasma Desktop, so, that's going to be the one to watch.

RHEL 6.x shipped GNOME 2.x rather than GNOME 3.x, also RHEL 7 beta ships KDE 4.10.5.

The steamos repository has a log

where you can see the timeline of packages that they tried with steamos. they tested kde 4.8 from STABLE at some point but threw it out for the beta alongside all kind of media playing stuff. maybe they will put it back in at some point as an option like they also already make amd and intel drivers available as an option now - but not advertising/supporting them right now.

Creator of GNOME secured GNOME failure just on its creation, GNOME is defect by design!
It's very sad that man power is lost for developing GNOME instead of KDE , but with directions which GNOME takes, it is obvious that
GNOME will die, just like RPM!

Yes. KDE was removed. Gnome was better.

Gnome will be replaced by Xfce when it becomes the default for the new Debian stable, just a matter of time.

Gnome was started because Qt's evil license. Gnome's inception was a battle cry for freedom. KDE was just adware for a commercial tool kit.

Do you really believe that some "cry for freedom" can be called gnome?
It is seems to me that it looks more like "cry for dissipation"....
How KDE can be adware for toolkit when there isn't any other?

No. He understood that having 5 community managers blog-bombing didn't make Gnome give into CLA, bzr or LP. Then he moved on to create a CLA stack targeting anything from cloud computing to TVs.

And then Debian moved to Xfce.
Two very large distros that used to default to Gnome that don't any more.
