What Ahonen says is that Nokia would have done better if they had sticked with Symbian rather than switch to Windows Phony. Which is true - Symbian still has higher market share than Phony, even though it's been deprecated for years. If Nokia hadn't been infiltrated by a microsoft trojan horse, they could have stuck with Symbian long enough to properly develop Meego and built a functional platform out of it. Look at what Jolla is doing with Sailfish, that would've been a smart move for Nokia, but unfortunately Nokia got led to slaughter by their incompetent and probably criminal board who sold the company out to MS.
Everything Elop has done since taking charge of Nokia has been completely insane and made no sense whatsoever - unless you consider the idea that his decisions aren't meant to benefit Nokia, but Microsoft. Then it all starts to make all too much sense... he should be convicted as the criminal he is.

IIRC his position was stick with symbian until meego was ready, not stick with it until all eternity. Certainly not trash your own product

LG already has familiarity with Android, which would be far better for smarttv's.
All I see them having gained here are the patents. A webos tv is basically a regular dumb tv just like every other FUCKINGLY USELESS so-called "smarttv".
Here's a hint to all the TV manufacturers interested in integrating something fancy: Use something GOOD. There's no point ramming CRAP into your TV just to call it "smart", because its not smart AT ALL.
All trying to get first-mover's advantage before Apple comes with its Apple TV? If so, Samsung has already had more than a year's lead over the competition.
Personal opinion states that smart TVs are a product looking for a need to fulfil.
