The Humble Bundle removed their option to donate to the Electronic Frontier Foundation which is what I usually include extra money to donate to. This time I noticed they replaced it with the American Red Cross.
It infuriates me that an organization with an ongoing anti-gay smear campaign can qualify as a charity.
This policy is part of an organized right-wing anti-gay smear campaign that has gone on for decades, under which I as a healthy disease free gay man cannot give blood, but some wine-o who has unprotected sex with many members of the opposite sex and frequently risks coming into contact with STDs is more than able to give blood.
Over the years, the American Red Cross has issued far right wing propaganda and lies designed to make the AIDS epidemic seem disproportionately skewed towards gay men. It isn't. If anything, straight people seem to be engaging in more risky behavior and promoting the idea that unsafe sexual practices and skipping on condom use is OK. The political and religious far right in America has completely eviscerated responsible sex education and has replaced it with failed abstinence-only policies which has led to an explosion in the rate of unwanted teenage pregnancies and the STD rate.
I therefore, in good conscience, cannot support this "charity" and will be giving my full donation to Child's Play instead. I ask that others do the same. Thank you.

You should not give blood if you have AIDS or have ever had a positive HIV test, or if you have done something that puts you at risk for becoming infected with HIV... You are at risk for getting infected if you:
have ever used needles to take drugs, steroids, or anything not prescribed by your doctor
are a male who has had sexual contact with another male, even once, since 1977
have ever taken money, drugs or other payment for sex since 1977
have had sexual contact in the past 12 months with anyone described above
received clotting factor concentrates for a bleeding disorder such as hemophilia
were born in, or lived in, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea,Gabon, Niger, or Nigeria, since 1977.
since 1977, received a blood transfusion or medical treatment with a blood product in any of these countries, or
had sex with anyone who, since 1977, was born in or lived in any of these countries. Learn more about HIV Group O, and the specific African countries where it is found.
