On my way back from Chernobyl (in Amsterdam at the moment), and it was certainly interesting and could spend so much more time than just two days in the area... A return trip may be warranted at some point in the future. Full details and 130+ photographs to be posted on Wednesday. But as inspired by John Bridgman in an earlier Chernobyl-related thread, I propose something to the following:
"The Phoronix "It Blew Up Real Good" Tour: A semi-organized, annual tour and gathering amongst anyone in the Phoronix community that seeks to explore the greatest explosions, manufactured landscapes, and destructive phenomenons around the world."
Anyone interested? Well, judging by the earlier thread and those that contacted me about Chernobyl, I am sure some are interested Feel free to start throwing around ideas... Basically if anyone is interested in visiting any "crazy" / unique places, start throwing out ideas. If there is sufficient interest, I am sure it will not be an issue for me to arrange something with my sponsors for either subsidizing the cost of the tour (so you would be more or less just responsible for airfare, accommodations, etc) or arranging a free-drink reception, etc.
