It is sad that things like CoCs are needed. But there are so many bad people - like Kent - it has become a necessity.

If you have a real job, and you tell a coworker in a meeting to "Get your head examined and get the fuck out of here with this shit", you will be reprimanded or fired.
If you're a member of a volunteer organization, and you say "Get your head examined and get the fuck out of here with this shit" to a fellow volunteer you disagree with - you will be reprimanded or removed from the organization.
If you participate in your local community gardening club, and you say "Get your head examined and get the fuck out of here with this shit" to a fellow club member when they want to plant something you don't like - you will be removed from the club or reprimanded.
If you're at a pizza shop and say "Get your head examined and get the fuck out of here with this shit" when they ask if you want some garlic sauce to go with your breadsticks - you will be asked to leave the establishment and/or be permanently banned.
Kent has repeatedly demonstrated he is unable to work amicably with others, and gets extremely frustrated when he doesn't get his way. He should count himself lucky they only gave him a single cycle time-out.
It's become very clear to me that Kent, many other open source developers, and quite a few members of Phoronix have clearly never had a real job that required them to interact with other people or have ever been involved in any kind of social organization. The language they use with others is simply unacceptable in the real world. You CANNOT talk to people like that and expect to get away with it without consequence.
It's either that, or they just feel emboldened by the keyboard.

He agreed to be under the power given to those people ahead of time.
Why they have power is because Linus used to be an asshole, too. Just because someone is keen in the ways of kernel programming doesn't mean they have the right to be an asshole and treat others in an undignified manner.
I'm aware how rich that all of that is coming from the person who was calling Kent a whiny bitch in the last thread. I know y'all are thinking "Who the fuck is this person to say things like 'treat others in an undignified manner' when they spoke about others in such an undignified manner like that?" Well, that's the duality of man in action. Don't know what else to say, there.
