Phoronix: Linux CoC Announces Decision Following Recent Bcachefs Drama

Following the recent messaging from Bcachefs lead developer Kent Oversteet that Bcachefs changes for Linux 6.13 were rejected on the basis of his Code of Conduct, the Linux CoC committee has now formally announced their decision...

This looks no more than what Linus has written for years.

I guess Keir Starmer isn't the only one being two tier anymore.

I'm compiling from Kent's Github tree anyways.

On that note I wrote some crappy scripts for building the kernel in Ubuntu if anyone cares.

I'm also working on something for Alpine so I can do a Bcachefs VM and passthrough my disks while I wait for this whole thing to blow over.

So they put him in timeout? How bizarre.

What's next, a spanking? Take the car keys away for a month? Or no allowance money until Christmas?

What else are they supposed to do? Perma-ban? He's been given multiple warnings and, yet, every kernel cycle since Bcachefs has been considered for mainline or mainlined there has been massive drama around him.

juxuanu Linus was forced into therapy. I guess they can force Kent into therapy if he has another infraction.

Yes. You don't remember the sabbatical Linus took to work on how he deals with people and follow the CoC?

The people are very disappointed, they want more drama...

What is so bizarre about a suspension? And why are you trying to demean Linux's ability to enforce its rules (which Kent agreed to)?
