Looks like the Linux CoCs told Kent it's Over for him. He now belongs to the streets.

It doesn't really matter. His bias in what he self-reported is very telling. He wrote a novella about how he was slighted, left links to the things that he thought slighted him, wrote maybe 20 words about what happened, didn't leave any links to what actually happened, and went into minimal details, again without links, about how the things that are slighting him now are happening in other communities. He acted like Guido van Rossum from Python following the Python CoC rules and regulations is a conspiracy. If he ever gives up programming he could have a good job writing news for FOX or OAN.

It's not even clear what their issue is, which is weird.

Erm... You seem to be under the misconception that what "people" think matters. It doesn't. Average people are easily replaceable, experts are not. You are occasionally going to have to put up with assholes if you want an exceptional product. If you're too much of a snowflake to do that, that's on you just as much as them and your project will be mediocre. Witness how many years we got amazing work done with Linus ripping people a new asshole every couple weeks on the mailing list.

This proves that the problem is not the egos, the problem is your narcissism; thinking that you matter more than you do and that people should be obliged to give a damn about your feelings. The world functioned just fine without catering to little whiners who want to weaponize fragility for a long time. And we'll keep getting work done, without considering feelings, long after you're dead and gone.

COC guys never do anything in the public, if they did it would work against their power grab nature

              absolutely not lol

              this reads so childish

why would i ever put up with an asshole? most of the time these "experts" are mediocre as fuck and stuck in their ways but think they're revolutionary. the best of the best have figured out how to avoid those issues by not being assholes. it's very basic.

nothing burger. ill say it again: i wont interact with assholes, and neither would most people. i have interacted with assholes and it did no good because those assholes were too stupid and/or too stubborn to see the problems with what they were suggesting.

assholes push people away. being professional brings projects together. its really basic.

Whatever, kid. Have you ever even had a job? If you had you'd know you *always* have to deal with assholes while still getting the job done. From what it sounds like, you'll be a major contributor to the asshole level if you ever get out of the basement and have to pay for your own Hot Pockets.

ive been employed in tech since i was teenager, and im a lot older than that now. ive seen the whole spectrum, interacted with literally thousands of people with work. i certainly was an asshole at one point and it helped nothing. assholes develop a reputation and are pointless to work with. you?

Usually in corporate world these type of complaints are managed in private - to hopefully not further embarrass the person. Obviously this is very silly when you have one person involved and is very easily identified (even without Kent’s post, his contributions not being accepted would raise many questions).

I am definitely not defending the CoC (all these type of entities are full of it and only make things worse). It seems like the affected parties need to meet face to face and hash it out or go their seperate ways. Trying to deal with issues like this via emails is madness really.
