I think the suggestion was about using the LLM to rewrite from passive voice to active voice.

An LLM can't generate a good commit log.
At best it can make a summary of the change, it usually can't really write about why a change happened

i think it's just a way for linus to stay in touch with all the work that's getting done. it forces him to read it understand it, and probably helps him decide if he should scrutinize the patch more or less.

        Indeed

The circus called and asked if sophisticles can come back. Is that you?

High-performing people like Linux can do two (or more!) things concurrently, at least on a timescale of days, weeks, months, not every single moment. He can write some code, review some patches, and during more quiet moments think about how to improve the average quality of commit messages in his projects, then communicate that. Mind-blowing concept, I know.

saw linux torvalds in title, clicked expecting more bcachefs drama, oh well, guess it's a little too early for that.

                Linux is not a person.

No you didn't, you saw Linus Torvalds in the title, Linux is the thing that Linus created.

Most of my neighbors use imperative language as well...

not the worst shitpost I've ever seen, but it's a little too much (read: sounds like a mormon trying to be mean). ideally, for material like this, either (1) say something borderline believable that people cannot resist arguing with or (2) distract people from the details by putting people on the defensive.

                      here's something better:

sad to lazy linus demand developers do all this extra work. absolute clown fiesta on the mailing list, sad to see. i remember when it was just about programming and not about this disgusting woke garbage.

                      OR

maybe linus should develop better reading comprehension? i guess im installing freebsd where literacy rates are 100%. at least it has a future.
