If it's in Ukranian territory then yes its a war crime since it's none of Russia's business (Russian aggression also created the conflict zone in the first place)

If you cannot accept that people have a different opinion (which in this case happens to be a reality) then you should probably ask yourself why you have the views you do.

Russia is an imperial colonial aggressor. This is why almost every country surrounding Russia, if possible, wants to join NATO because Russia knows if a single Russian troop steps inside of a NATO country they are screwed. Only exception to this is Finland, and thats because Finland is the most militarized country in EU (and Russia had massive losses against them in the latest war, see winter war). Also Finland is about to join NATO now anyways.

Exactly, and for those wondering how this relates to ICC, in order for a region to legally claim independence they have to participate in fair elections that is accepted by ALL countries/governments in question. In the case of Donbas (and other regions) in Ukraine, this means both Ukraine and Russia would have to accept the results of the vote, ideally with oversight from UN. This has historic precedent, i.e. Saar region after WW2 (Saar was originally "French" but the inhabitants voted to become part of Germany, the critical part is both Germany AND France accepted the vote).

This of course did not happen with Ukraine, Ukraine did not accept any of the votes because they were fake/rigged and there wasn't a neutral UN party overlooking them. This is why the annexation of the various Ukrainian territories by Russia is illegal and not recognized under international law. Russia (or another other country for that matter) cannot just silently invade a country and create a fake election to claim independence.
