Not sure if I like this. Does it include a tracking mechanism?

Me neither, but without this, the approach taken by developers would probably be to embed a Qt WebView component which might be worse.

How about we all stop allowing ads in our faces 24/7

The fact that it is a Qt module is good: creating a dummy noop module and LD_PRELOADing it into misbehaving apps is a very easy hack. The other variant being dissecting the binary.
Its a module, a tool. Don't use it.

tbh what killed Qt for me is QML. Seemed like a good idea. I don't think it is.

Ads on desktop apps? Pfff, they will never get me on the terminal.

                Oh wait: https://www.zdnet.com/article/npm-bans-terminal-ads/

I remember when Quickbooks started displaying ads in their Desktop app. Thats the day I stopped using Quickbooks.

Using RPZ lists as I already do. Only stops about 95% of ads, but it works.
What we will definitely need to address as community, is DoH ... because that will give control on host & domains to whoever owns the web-site.
                    And that, I cannot accept.
