You think this is about belief? No! The question is, what do you know!? Ask yourself, does know-how grow on trees? Can one pick just any person off the street, give them a HOWTO, and they now have years of experience required to operate the machines for making vaccines?

By the time your factory of noobs produces one single good batch of vaccine will the pandemic be over. This does not first need a Bill Gates before one understands this.

Yes I don't know that there is a facility (or several) with modern equipment and a government and the WHO that seems to believe that they could create this vaccine and the company.

Why would I not trust the company? What would be the worst case they give em the information and they fail making the vaccine, let's say they use a bad vaccine on the population would that be the fault of the western country/company that gave the information to them?

You are naive. People are developing the vaccines right now and are continuing to work on them, because the vaccines will soon become ineffective and need to be improved. Nobody there has time to sit down, stop with what they are doing and write a book and teach another country how to make their own vaccine.

It is merely a dream when somebody says "all we need are the blueprints and the know-how". It is (although a bit delusional) merely a hopeful expression. Like saying we would all need to stop producing CO2, or if we just had a better kernel than the current Linux kernel.

vaccines against common cold don't work very well. keeping isolation is more important.

Sure they do, but as I said does it require skilled people to understand it and to turn it into a working vaccine. Do you understand this?

It is not this simple, or do you think all you need is a big pot and you would only need to put all the ingredients in it, boil and stir it, and this then gives you your vaccine?

I want to stay friendly and don't make that about personal attacks, but you do make strange deflecting arguments, when I make fun of your claim that they have to write a book sounds like YOU think they make the vaccine like the druid in Asterix and Obelix you can't just try to make a personal attack in saying that I would believe the process is that way. When I think you think it's that way does it not make me think that way.

But if you strawman me that way it allows you to attack my character... I hope that is not intentional and only your ego or you have some sort of adhs, but if it's intentional then you gaslight me and who ever reads that with your strawman here.

It was not an attack, but a question. Seeing now that you want to take it as attack tells me that you have no higher education, which means you have no experience.

I dearly suggest you get a higher education, see what it is like to study and learn and to become a highly skilled worker who posses specialised know-how that can help the world.

Until then do you have no idea how much effort it is to get such know-how.

Appeal to expertise. How experienced or researched does someone have to be to talk about vaccines?

Also, wouldn’t it also be the case that someone who has spent their life working on vaccines will end up having a more positive view on them?

I’m all for vaccines, but that doesn’t mean I support the approach that some governments are taking in regards to administering it, or in their more authoritarian rules being thrust upon citizens.

I wonder if mRNA vaccines could be used against the common flu/cold.
I also wonder if in the future the seasonal flu will integrate the COVID19 strain(s), like with the "Spanish" influenza strain after WW1.
