edit : I find the Bild story (although Bild is a tabloid, not a trustable source)
edit 2 : apparently there is indeed a suspicion of fraud, but the (alligated) frauds come from some clinics, the government doesn't seem to have a part in it

The RKI the highest autority here:
Das RKI hatte bereits im Januar dieses Jahres Alarm geschlagen und darüber informiert, erklärt der Bundesrechnungshof in seinem Bericht. Und weiter konstatierte das RKI: Die Intensivbelegung sei "nicht mehr für eine Bewertung der Situation geeignet".
They warned the government in January that the numbers are no longer trustworthy.

You can think whatever you want about "the bild" but nobody get's around them, it's the biggest weekly thing, similar to the NY Times if you want or if the Washington Post would be the biggest paper... yes they are slightly right wing, yes they do sometimes bad things... I am no fan of them, but it's not some crazy blogger than puts out corona conspiracies.

Bill Gates doesn't hold back anything, he just expresses his opinion on why he thinks it's unwise to directly produce covid vaccines in 3rd world countries as of now and I agree with his point. These countries don't have adequate resources (there wasn't even enough sterile syringes and clean needles when ebola was going around), infrastructure (sufficiently funded biotech factories), capacity, know-how and experience in order to produce a sufficient amount of vaccine safely and with a constant quality. Figuring out production and guaranteeing quality was hard enough as is in the first world and required state of the art technology, aswell as a tremendous amount of funding - this isn't a luxury that the 3rd world can afford.

By giving the recipe to 3rd world countries and saying "they'll figure it out by themselves" we'd directly contribute to a humanitarian catastrophe of epic proportions, essentially delaying the time until they receive working vaccines by at least a few years, up to a decade (yes, it does take this long!) and hence we'd be responsible for every corona-related death and new mutations (yay!) that occur in these countries.

As a long term measure (which Bill Gates doesn't oppose), securing the necessary funding, building the infrastructure and transferring the required knowledge for making their own vaccines can be very beneficial for third world countries, but not as means to end the corona pandemic as quickly as possible.
Btw, Gates has already donated billions over billions of dollars in order to improve quality of life, infrastructure, education, provide clean water & stable electricity, access to medical treatment, ... in those countries and because of that he knows that their technical capabilities aren't sufficient for this as of now.

Just because Bill Gates says some bullshit you don't have to just believe it as fact. There are laboratories in some of this countries that can produce the vaccine... I am to lazy to search the proof for that, but if Bill Gates makes this claims he or you who defends it should proof this thesis...

Saying a lie and then expect the others to proof that it's a lie is a pretty comfortable position, if Bill Gates say's something I would just see it as lie by default.

Here Crystal pointed to the proof that this countries or some of them indeed can produce such vaccines.

She refers to that article among other things:
        https://apnews.com/article/drug-comp...be007f8887bcf6

In an industrial neighborhood on the outskirts of Bangladesh’s largest city lies a factory with gleaming new equipment imported from Germany, its immaculate hallways lined with hermetically sealed rooms. It is operating at just a quarter of its capacity.

It is one of three factories that The Associated Press found on three continents whose owners say they could start producing hundreds of millions of COVID-19 vaccines on short notice if only they had the blueprints and technical know-how.
But I guess Bill Gates knows is better than then WHO...

So they have some space available and put gleaming new equipment from Germany in it. Great start, and let's hope it is not just some gleaming new German coffee makers! The blueprints we can email. And maybe we should just pack some "technical know-hows" and their families into containers and ship them. Problem solved! So who here has got some spare "technical know-hows" we can ship to Bangladesh?

So you believe Gates more than the WHO?

You want a link to the Office National Statistics website? To the European Mortality Monitoring website? Do you want the raw numbers?
You want a link with already compiled numbers?, like https://www.statista.com/statistics/...ed-kingdom-uk/ (literally a 2 minutes google search)
You said there were only 3500+ fully related to COVID, while the UK had an over mortality of 90000+ deaths in 2020. As if "pre-existing conditions" were a good enough reason not to count the vast majority of deaths under COVID toll.

You think this is about belief? No! The question is, what do you know!? Ask yourself, does know-how grow on trees? Can one pick just any person off the street, give them a HOWTO, and they now have years of experience required to operate the machines for making vaccines?

By the time your factory of noobs produces one single good batch of vaccine will the pandemic be over. This does not first need a Bill Gates before one understands this.

Allow me to disagree. I firmly believe there should be no patent on (COVID) vaccine (and associated drugs), even if the capability to produce the vaccines are lacking, it can only slow the production. But maybe this is another debate about the right to monetize the health of people. Or maybe I just hate the concept of patents.

Yes I don't know that there is a facility (or several) with modern equipment and a government and the WHO that seems to believe that they could create this vaccine and the company.

Why would I not trust the company? What would be the worst case they give em the information and they fail making the vaccine, let's say they use a bad vaccine on the population would that be the fault of the western country/company that gave the information to them?
You even said it's his opinion and your opinion, a opinion is just a different word for a subjective belief, so you have a believe you believe Gates.
