Is this Microsoft slowing Linux down so it eventually gets as slow as Windows?

My first thought: sounds really slow! If the kernel at least mapped it execute only (if available, otherwise execute/read) then it would be (potentially) orders of magnitude faster. As long as it's not writable, there wouldn't be as big of a security hole.
