Not a great surprise, the blow back from FSF membership has been large especially the corporate ones has been significant, The only question i have is IF what has been said about his views on child pornography that are circulating in the media now are true why wasn't he removed long ago?

WTF, why? Was he forced out or is he just trying to escape the backlash? It seems unlikely he came to realize what he say was so bad.

Damn, I am truly shocked by this, I have trouble differentiating the FSF from RMS, it was his life goal... was it he going to do now? Go back to programming?

The media have been circulating articles for some time now, openly demanding his head. He was probably forced to resign which is why, unlike Linus, his vacation will be permanent.

And I foresee many of them being really unpleasant to read.

I don't know what to say; i am a big admirer of RMS since 2004. Turned to GNU/Linux due to the influence of him. As an Indian I consider him as Mahatma Gandhi of Software revolution. Surely we will miss him.

A lot of (much) worse people are going to keep their positions, and continue fight against free software.

                  It really ought to.

Ignoring reckless and sexist behavior of tech stalwarts is not acceptable but neither is the mob mentality of lynching anyone who disagrees with a certain popular view. I don’t agree with Stallman and his past remarks but I am also not happy that he has been (forced to?) resign in this manner.

I don't keep up with pedo news so was he into "hugging" children or was it along the lines of "pictures in the bath aren't porn". There are certain things you just do not Google.
