This round of Outreachy is open to "open internationally to women (cis and trans), trans men, and genderqueer people. Internships are also open to residents and nationals of the United States of any gender who are Black/African American, Hispanic/Latin@, Native American/American Indian, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander."
Translated: open to everyone but cis white males. This shit ought to be illegal.

It's an outreach program, doesn't make sense to do outreach program for majority.

In my experience OSS world is already pretty open to women/trans/whatever and I am fairly positive that there are even more of these people hidden behind layers of anonymity.

          1. They discriminate on the basis of race or sex when the only thing that should matter is merit.
          2. They imply that minorities are unable to compete against white males in a free market... do you think minorities are so incompetent that they need special help?

That is just Orwellian newspeak for racism. Another example, "positive racism". Outreach is outright racist.

              1. Clearly not all positions are hired on merit. That's why these programs exist.
              2. You think the free market exists or works, hilarious.

Orwell was both a communist and anti-fascist. Just fyi.

                  1. So what you're saying is... GNOME is racist?
                  2. You think that free markets don't exist (videogames, OSS, and books just to name 3) and that it doesn't work. hilarious.

Second comment, the Outreachy outrage is reaching new records. And always with the same arguments...
