Interesting to see that Adreno even has hardware cursors. I would not have expected that from an embedded/mobile GPU; but maybe they want to market the family for Chromebooks?

a small hw overlay for mouse cursor. Desktop hw has had this forever. Combination of gpu composited window manager plus sw cursor is usually pretty broken..Originally posted by andrei_me View Post
fwiw, snapdragon (and drm/msm) have supported hw cursor forever. But newer versions of mdp5 change the way hw cursor works so it works more like an overlay plane. My guess is hw cursors are a requirement from microsoft.. but I won't complain, hw cursors and iommu's are two things that make qcom's display controller block much nicer to work with than most of the arm stuff out there.
