I am running an AMD FX 8120/Radeon HD 5750 machine, and did not get GPU acceleration of opengl with the modesetting driver on opengl games. Using Ubuntu Vivid (alpha) with Oibaf PPA version of mesa and linux 3.18. Compiz/MATE worked fine-but so did Cinnamon in software rendering over a year ago, due to the power of this CPU. On opening the desktop no noticable difference, but framerate in the 2d (but written in OpenGL) Criticalmass/critter game dropped to about 15% of of what I got on Radeon. Scorched3d did not open at all , producing a "failed to set the video mode" error.
Were the benchmarks above set using a newer version of modesetting that passes opengl calls to libgl?
I think you need x-server from git(modesetting now lives in x-server)
