Phoronix: Libinput Is Great For X.Org & Wayland, Maybe Mir Too

Libinput is the library that's been under development for one year now to try to work out a single input library implementation that can be shared by all Wayland compositors and other potential use-cases. Peter Hutterer gave an update on this input stack during this week's XDC2014 conference in Bordeaux...

Nope, evidently they couldn't stream it and there hasn't been any uploaded yet to YouTube.

        Future plans (non-obvious):

        raw/unaccelerated mouse input
Yes please, CS:GO is unplayable without raw input.

Maybe gamepad support will FINALLY allow screensaver suppression for games to be handled as just another case of "the user isn't idle so don't blank the screen" like it should have been all along.

As for "only configuration options that make sense", we shall see. There's a reason why so many alternatives to GNOME exist.

As long as I can kill tap-to-click with fire (Honestly it should be disabled by default as a sane config default, so that those who actually want that can enable it and the rest of us don't have to deal with it messing everything up) I'm okay with limited configs

Oh and "natural" scrolling really shouldn't be a default, It completely conflates the natural input paradigms of a touchpad vs a touch screen. Touchpads are pointer based input with the touchpad area as conceptually equivalent to either the screen area or a large part of it, meanwhile touch screens are content based input. As a result what's actually natural in terms of scrolling and gestures is opposite each other. And scrolling up vs down is conceptually the difference between moving a piece of paper (touch screen), and moving the scrollbar (touchpad)

FOSDEM2014 had 6 livestreams, and the Graphics DevRoom stream was apparently pretty stable.
