That's why it only took 35 YEARS for these vulnerabilities to come to light.
Well, you need readable code so that people actually take time to dig into the code, not "lines of sheer terror".

The people that actually dug into the code base claimed it is beyond repair and started to develop Wayland.

Wayland devs just told the XeroLinux lead dev that wayland is not recommended for production systems yet and that distros should not be making it default. You can see the XeroLinux devs statements about it from 3 days ago starting at about the 3:30 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Tqhy1iKhQc

He's not hating on Wayland, reports that he is using it himself and that XeroLinux will now be including Wayland but not as default. At about the 10:50 mark he says he was told by the Wayland devs that distros should not be setting it as default, but some of them are in order to be among the first adopters.

            TIL:

            1) Kuch in Hindi refers in English to:—(nm) the female breast; ~[mamdala] the female breasts..—kuch (कुच) is alternatively transliterated as Kuca.

            2) Kuch in Hindi refers in English to:—(nm) march, departure; —[karana] to march, to depart. —[ka damka bajana] to commence a march; —[bolana] to (order a) march..—kuch (कूच) is alternatively transliterated as Kūca.

If Wayland comes with not one but 5 parades of female breasts, I'm all in dude.

Kind of funny you had to find a distro most havent even heard of to get such a quote.

You probably could have gotten more well know distribution contributors to say it too if you looked hard enough, but for most people it is ready and present.

Looking a the 2013 Phoronix article linked:
"Among the quotes used were "GLX is a horrible demotivator! 80,000 lines of sheer terror." and "In the past couple of months I've found 120 bugs there, and I'm not close to done."

I am not surprised X.org developers do not want to continue with that code. But they still fixed the bug. Although I do not use X11 anymore, I am sure many server administrators will appreciate this. Good for them.

I actually saw someone complaining about input lag just the other day. Their argument had to do with GNOME and KDE having triaged use of the hardware cursor overlay plane in Mutter and KWin as low-priority, resulting in a one-frame delay on cursor motion in good conditions and higher chance of cursor stuttering under load.
