Daniel Vetter is quite capable, and is effectively co-maintainer. What's the problem?

The issue is that he didn't hand over responsibility of pushing stuff to mainline in a responsible way (as in not as one massive push) when he obviously should have just handed over the rains to Vetter so he could do it the way you're supposed to push code to mainline.
