    Xwayland does work with nvidia (GNOME/Wayland doesn't work without Xwayland), just not with glamor acceleration, so all X11 rendering is performed by the CPU.

      No Xwayland doesn't work with Nvidia. You can't even run glxinfo because it can't open a display.

        Could it be that OpenGL doesn't work with Xwayland on Nvidia drivers? So 2D applications like browser with software rendering (and no fancy things like OpenGL rendering, WebGL etc.) should work.
