      Big applications don't just rely on a toolkit to handle this for them. Relying on GTK+3 won't mean that you'll automatically can use Wayland. For Firefox it took them ages to get GTK+3 working at a usable state. I assume it'll take quite a while to get Wayland support. Another issue is that some things which are standardized under X11 aren't in Wayland. I'm guessing Firefox will hit some issues with that.

        I have used Chromium on XWayland on Gnome 3.19.90 and you don't notice that it isn't native.
