That's exactly what I want to use it for. I wanted the Surface too but as it never got released...

Eh, it would have been horribly expensive, and given improvements in the technology since 2007, the original was pretty bad by today's standards... a rear-projection screen (not LCD), a lowly 1024x768 resolution, and using cameras to handle the touch side of things. If you were building one today, you'd basically be creating a giant tablet - modern touch-screen instead of the cameras, and you'd be wasting your time to build this with anything less than a 4K display.
