Phoronix: Mir Gets Workaround For Visual Glitches, Corruption

While Mir's composite bypass support can dramatically improve the performance for Linux OpenGL games running on the Ubuntu display server, some Intel and AMD users have experienced on-screen corruption and other visual glitches when relying upon XMir since the bypass support was merged...

And just as Apple did a lot of things differently from BSD, so will Ubuntu diverge from Linux. It takes a real focus on the consumers to create an alternative to Windows. Good times ahead: Microsoft, Apple and Canonical, the new holy trinity.
LOL. That's a much better trolling attempt than you were doing before you got banned. Good to see the time off got you back into the game.

Let's say that Canonical is doing a good job. That's it!

I hear you. But there are a few problems with this reasoning.

        1. The goal is to create a FOSS OS. Not just an OS derived from FOSS elements. We already have two very functional OSes. (And yes I use Windows 8 and Server 2012 at home and would take a bullet for them, especially the later.)
        2. There is already "strong leadership" in the FOSS world. Both Red Hat and Attachmate are well based corporations.
        3. The crucial difference is not that we don't have strong leadership, but that only Canonical tries to make a distro with good usability for desktop users. Both RHEL and SLES are abortions, when it comes to polish and user friendliness. If anything, ironically, Debian, the grandpa distro, is light years more user friendly than RHEL. It actually has MP3 support out of the box, an ample repo, and a package management system that works well.

This is what I can whole heartedly agree to. It will keep on being the same old shovelware and the masses will forever be relegated to eat up what the masters serve them. But who am I to judge people who like to be put behind the bars of the paddy waggon instead of being in the driver seat?

So the world of GNU/Linux will soldier on, welcoming everyone who can engage their brain for more than two minutes a day. The rest of the masses will very soon have three options of crapware to choose from.

Agree. Thankfully all Canonical products are GPL and that guarantees that they will always be free.

CLA... Canonical is not the FSF.

CLA can't take away any of the freedoms from the users. That is why GPL is great. What it does is foster a safer environment for the principal developer. CLA is irrelevant for those who are into FOSS for the freedom and at the same time is good for business.

How come a thread on Wayland comes and goes un-trolled and on topic, but every Ubuntu/Mir/Unity thread gets derailed and trolled within minutes?

CLA is deleterious for those who are into FOSS for the freedom and at the same time is good for Canonical to transform third party GPL code in closed source software and to do it in a non reciprocal manner without any obligation in regard of FOSS developers.
