I quite like all these media programs start supporting Wayland. It seems like it's getting increasingly easy to build a cheap, lightweight well-performing Linux mediacentre (yeah yeah, I know, RPi, but i nprefer something with a little more 'umpf' :P).
No we just need the 'premium video extensions' supported on Chrome or Firefox, so you don't need wine ( http://techblog.netflix.com/ ).

Almost every week, we get news of new software offering Wayland support. Everyone is moving to support Wayland and that is great.

It's good to see Sam continuing to work on some future-facing stuff. It's also nice to know he hasn't resolved to choose sides when he can make things flexible in the future, as far as display backends go.

Great news. XBMC is probably one of my favourite programs of all time. I use it for Movies and TV Shows libraries and even Live TV (since I set up MythTV backend), YouTube and a host of other add ons as well etc.

Same here. Just too bad that Google keeps changing YouTube layouts and thus breaking the YouTube plugin every now and then.

I wonder how long would it take before an XBMC\wayland img would become available for the RPi. A shame about the GPU drivers... Would have been interesting to see XBMC, KMSCON and X all riding the wayland train merely together

Aye, I know it does, I've watched some vids, and it looks fantastic! but have yet to try it on my own RPi as I'm quite lazy these days, and I havn't used it much yet.

He works on the "Canonical side" too which I guess is what you are implying as the "non-flexible non future side".
