To be fair, "Wayland is utter crap" because of people in charge of developing the protocol, while for Rust for me it's mostly because of the fanboys (so I know I exaggerate but yeah).

That's another topic that seems to be quite hot in here, with a lot of absolutes to either extreme end of this spectrum and yet we shouldn't go insinuating here people loving or hating Nvidia are comparatively as morally reprehensible as Drew.

My whole point is that it is completely feasible to point out the guy is mental and borderline criminal without generalizing and inciting a flamewar.

This forum seems to treat topics in absolutes. "Wayland is utter crap" or "Wayland is god's gift to Linux"; "rust is destroying humanity" or "rust is saving our souls from the eternal memory leak damnation".

Reality is more often than not less obvious and multi-dimensional..

Freedesktop successfully protected us from the views of vaxry, I'm sure they can protect us from drew devault too.

I agree; I came here looking for some info about the GPU reset recovery and if other DEs had something like that. Nope just some nonsense DE wars

So about that GPU reset recovery support; does GNOME have anything like that? I'm not sure if my GPU ever crashed in any manner to affect the DE, but I haven't seen any issues like that on GNOME with Intel UHD while seeing some concerning crash messages with Dota 2 (Vulkan) occasionally (would throw a block of i915 stuff in dmesg)

Simply put, in my opinion, you have to have some screws loose to actually make (yet another) a tiling WM, since it sucks to begin with. That doesn't mean his "disgusting behavior" is the only thing that it leads to.

Man... Did you stop for a second to think about what you were typing? Are you implying that either the usage of tiling window manager or the development of such program is in any way, shape or form connected with devault's disgusting behaviour?

There are a ton of reasons one might pick to develop any project and that says nothing about people's character. Shallow comments like this just cause unnecessary stir in a situation that is already bad for what it is.

People nowadays are very inconsequential with what they write online and, honestly, it saddens me deeply that people in this forum prefer the flamewar approach than civility.
