Count me in too! Currently rewriting a python-based utility from Tk to GTK4+libadwaita. Free money for something I'm already doing anyways sounds nice!

I do also use gamescope, which is basically a fork of wayland, because it implements its own protocols on top of it. So there is indeed nothing stopping me.
You know who else uses this wayland fork? Every single gnomie who wants to run a game.

btw. i will keep trashtalking gnome as long as Gnomies are a pain for everyone else. If Gnomies would stay in their little corner, nobody would have an issue with them. But they publicly run campaigns where they try to bribe other projects to become gnome apps. Like their CSD compaign, that promotes an inherently insecure design.

Maybe not, but worth a shot. Hats off to anyone willing to attempt to tackle FOSS politics, I barely have the stamina to read about it let alone have the mental to try and participate.

Day 4 of Wayland governance hacking I wake at 5 AM. This is the perfect time to wake up in NYC TZ, as it affords me the ability to eat a whole apple in the time it takes my little internet-browsing chromebook to load all the IRC and Discord backlogs from the five hours that I snuck away for a nap when nobody was watching.

I'm cautiously optimistic about all the proposed governance changes this week. Let's hope they get approved rather than being bikeshedded

I have to admit that I am surprised this type of proposal wasn't made earlier by [anyone]. Satisfied with a Valve employee taking up arms for the gaming community.

they are treating wayland-protocols like the un security council, everyone get's a veto and rarely does anything get any consensus. it should be more like an incubator. anyone with an idea is encouraged to discuss it, implement it, receive feedback. and if it has merit then it becomes promoted to one of those holy namespaces they once enough compositors implement it. nothing should automatically get into the protected namespaces just because the cabal wants to push it through, nor should something that's implemented by some large subset of compositors be held back because the cabal wants to bikeshed it for a decade or two.
