Gotta say, as much as I encourage and thank mike for trying to tackle this, I think it's still not going to have the outcome he wants. Frog protocols seems like the better solution to me if only because the Wayland Protocol developers have proven they lack the definitions for "urgency" or "importance".

Day 4 of Wayland governance hacking I wake at 5 AM. This is the perfect time to wake up in NYC TZ, as it affords me the ability to eat a whole apple in the time it takes my little internet-browsing chromebook to load all the IRC and Discord backlogs from the five hours that I snuck away for a nap when nobody was watching.

I'm cautiously optimistic about all the proposed governance changes this week. Let's hope they get approved rather than being bikeshedded

Maybe not, but worth a shot. Hats off to anyone willing to attempt to tackle FOSS politics, I barely have the stamina to read about it let alone have the mental to try and participate.

You can't fix broken antiquated 18yo wayland.

          Lets just fork it.
Then the Gnomies can NACK themselves all day long in their hugbox and the rest of the world can move on.
          It's a win win

Nothing is stopping you so go right ahead. Perhaps then you'll stop showing up to complain in any vaguely GNOME related thread too; win win win.

I do also use gamescope, which is basically a fork of wayland, because it implements its own protocols on top of it. So there is indeed nothing stopping me.
You know who else uses this wayland fork? Every single gnomie who wants to run a game.

btw. i will keep trashtalking gnome as long as Gnomies are a pain for everyone else. If Gnomies would stay in their little corner, nobody would have an issue with them. But they publicly run campaigns where they try to bribe other projects to become gnome apps. Like their CSD compaign, that promotes an inherently insecure design.

Care to link to any of these public bribe campaigns? I could use the money.

Count me in too! Currently rewriting a python-based utility from Tk to GTK4+libadwaita. Free money for something I'm already doing anyways sounds nice!
