It does not work for you with untouched upstream 1.20.5 release, the fixed package in Arch repo is courtesy of the maintainer.

I hope they fix this, because that's what keeps me from using Wayland by default in Fedora. When playing TF2 I get stuttering as hell using xwayland.

Same applies to breakage of xf86-video-intel by xorg 1.20.5 release. Just reverting one tiny commit fixes it, but even that seems too much for the maintainers to properly handle.

Sssshh you're going to upset the people who insist Wayland's rate of progression is entirely its fault!

The future is a concept, a visualization or an imagination which is only experienced in a limited form by the individual imagining it. It is like a dream that an individual wishes to be made realized. It is like a person pointing into the far distance; to a place where they are not.

The present is your present. It is like a gift that you are actually holding in your hands. The present is powerful, visceral & expansive; but only if you are present with the present. If you always cast your gaze to the future (the imagined), you will not see or fully experience the gift (the present) you are holding in your hands.

The corresponding work on Weston and Mutter will hopefully also address race conditions in the resize / initial mapping code, currently resulting in occasional flickering / black areas. Together these changes will reduce most of the remaining 'not pixel perfect' cases currently observed when using XWayland.

Xwayland may post damages for an X11 window as soon as the frame callback is triggered, while the X11 window manager/compositor has not yet finished updating the windows....
