    Canonical's team responsible for continuing to advance the Mir display server has been making good progress this summer on fleshing out some missing functionality...

    It's sad that we (as an open source community) are giving up. I would like that every project would stand up as Sway developers and refuse to implement NVIDIA support. Yes, it would be very painfull and long battle but eventually, one side will have to break, hopefully, that would be NVIDIA.

        nonsense. EGLStreams is an open standard from khronos. GBM is linux platform junk.

          Open standard or not, it is only implemented by a the proprietary Nvidia driver and maybe a few mobile chips. GBM is in effect an open standard + implementation that all other open source drivers conform to.


          A quote straight from Phoronix "shortcomings of EGLStream are the open standard being implemented differently by vendors, there isn't cross-device support" ... meaning it isn't much of a standard.
