    Phoronix: A Look At The Many Different Vulkan Engine/Renderer Projects On GitHub

    There have been many small GitHub projects the past several months aspiring to be a good, open-source Vulkan game engine, but many of them don't tend to see commits too often or don't come close to realizing their dream. In my usual weekend "fun" of digging through GitHub looking for fascinating Vulkan projects of interest, I decided to provide a quick overview on some of the more promising Vulkan open-source engine projects...

        Weird how Michael never advertises BansheeEngine - it must be the best OSS engine i've seen so far. Currently adding Vulkan support (see latest commits).

          With how many engine have you worked so far, to call this one the best? Can you point to any projects or even demos using it?

          Also from what I see it is currently Windows only (having DX11/GL45 renderers?).

            Code quality & featureset. It's obviously still a WIP. But it's looking like the most promising one.

            Also yes, currently only supports Windows, because the developer is using Windows. It's open-source though, and you can help add the Linux support. There have already been tens of patches accepted to make it build on Linux.

            It used to also have a DX9 renderer but it was dropped this year. The Vulkan renderer should also be functional already, just not advertised until it's completely complete.

            But that documentation, man. I just love it. Clearly shows how much effort has been put into it.

              Seems like they're working on the ports as we speak:

              "We are currently focusing on finish up a final set of features before releasing 1.0 stable. These features are:

              Vulkan implementation
              Physically based renderer
              Linux/Mac ports

              Planned for Q2 2017 release"

              So perhaps Michael will bring it up.
