Prediction, within 5 years Apple's Metal API will become deprecated, at least de facto.

Not that it changes anything regardless if I'm right or wrong.

You seem to underestimate Apple's ability to thrive in their own walled garden...

What? They're ranking in the $$$ more than anybody else, while commanding a sliver of most markets they're in. What exactly is costing them dearly?

They, like most American mega corporations and Wall Street strive on the 3 trillion dollars created by the FED from thin air this year alone. By the end of next year covid-19 will be far less relevant due to vaccination and within 10 years the FED will stop printing money because of the dollar's shrinking role in world trade which if so would trigger too much inflation, which will negatively impact everything US including Apple, not to mention Apple will lose China if Trump wins. So Apple has at most a few more years of a lush life before it becomes the new IBM of PCs in the tablet and phone market.

Just because they're not failing completely as a company doesn't mean not having Vulkan drivers isn't costing them.

I believe that's exactly what their piles of cash mean. But you're entitled to your own opinion.
