    Phoronix: Vulkan 1.2 Arrives With An Eye On Greater Performance, Better Compatibility With Other 3D APIs On Top

    Coming up next month already will mark four years since the release of Vulkan 1.0 but for today is an early surprise... Vulkan 1.2! The Khronos Group has prepared Vulkan 1.2 for release as the newest major update to this graphics and compute API. Several vendors also have Vulkan 1.2 support in tow.

        Vulkan Video encode/ decode is interesting, once it lands Linux can finally have "Unified" Video API that Firefox and others were asking for, lets hope I can watch youtube for more 1.5 hours by end of this year.

            Nice to see, but all my tests show NINE in front.
            Some (Wine 32) progs even won't start with d9vk.
            So I have to move it away after dxvk-1.5/1.5.1.

                @Michael

                Mesa 20.0 even GREATER wird sein...

                ACO/GFX6 support and VK_AMD_shader_explicit_vertex_parameter should be in!
                20.0-rc1 on January 29th.

                Oh, and remember launch time Vulkan 1.2 OSS driver support even if 'only' with devel git tree!
                How GREAT times!

                  Steam client hangs after updating Nvidia binary to 440.48 and reboot. Only thing I changed.

                  EDIT: Upon (another) reboot Steam works. Maybe something wonky about the first boot after new driver. Boot #2 and Steam is back.
