    Is the purpose of this project to get better openCL support on the NVIDIA drivers? I could see NVIDIA not investing much in their openCL implementation to promote CUDA, but I doubt they'd do that with Vulkan.

    This is definitely interesting, it'll be fun to be able to run everything over vulkan in the future. I wonder what the Virtual Machine story will be like

    We've seen many efforts like DXVK that are mapping Direct3D atop Vulkan, efforts like Zink in getting OpenGL over Vulkan, and less popular but still progressing is getting OpenCL -- at least a reasonable subset of it -- working under Vulkan. That's what the CLVK project is about and it's been making more progress since we last looked at it on Phoronix...
