while not "cheap" I got my Philips BDM3270 (31.5" 2k) for ~$500AUD - so it is not super expensive either

Widevine DRM is only supported up to 1080p, so no.

Perhaps, but Intel hardware didn't have the ability to output it until recently. AFAIK it has been working for a long time in FBOs.

Yeah, but here where I live (Brazil) they are expensive. BUT, monitors are a long ownership item, so it can worth the investment if you are whiling to, after all, motherboards, CPUs and GPUs come and go, but monitors tend to last.

120hz 4k screens should land this year. I would wait for those to appear, HDR sounds like a nice solution instead of ultra expensive OLED, but it raises the price a fair bit also.
