Phoronix: RadeonSI Gets Memory Objects Support In Mesa Git, Last Bit For SteamVR

Valve developers Andres Rodriguez and Timothy Arceri have landed their enablement of EXT_memory_object and EXT_memory_object_fd within Mesa 17.3-dev Git...

With mesa master it's actually broken at the moment, there is a bit corruption going on http://i.imgur.com/vS4nSNA.png

But it has worked fine with earlier versions of the patchset, so it's probably just a regression that happened when rebasing because there were many unrelated changes in mesa's texture stuff recently too.

I'll likely be trying out Mesa Git in the next few days with R9 Fury and RX Vega for seeing how well it's working out for Linux VR gaming with the HTC Vive.
Did AMD send you an RX Vega?

Supposedly.... After they saw the latest Linux driver benchmarks against Windows and NVIDIA.

Well done AMD since there are no other site that benchmarks the drivers more on Linux and constantly tries out everything new or other changes to the drivers.
I hope you got more then one RX vega like 64, 56 and nano but that's maybe a bit to much to hope for.

Well you really only need one, you can just adjust the clock rates to simulate the other models right? Except the 56 has less shaders but we don't know how much of an affect that has on the overall performance since 'apparently' its performing near 1080 levels in recent leaks about its perf.

I'm definitely interested in seeing the results of this. I've been having issues with radeonsi and SteamVR a few months back so it'll be cool to see if it is now usable.

Please consider to add _RX580_, too.
                Thanks in advance ;-)

Yes, broken for me as well with Mesa GIT, suspected a rebasing/merge problem myself. Will probably be fixed shortly though.

According to tarceri https://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/me...d8889cbc2a14aa causes it, so it's really because of that tile swizzle thing that needs to be disabled for textures that are shared with other processes. Should be fixed quickly then.
