Phoronix: Arch Linux Rolls Out Mesa GLVND Support To Testing

Thanks to the work done in part by Fedora, Arch Linux has enabled in testing support for the GLVND-enabled Mesa that can happily co-exist alongside the NVIDIA proprietary driver...

atleast with Nvidia you'll get better support in linux, cant say or see that happening with AMD Radeon shit Drivers, you prolly got better intel support than you do of AMDGPU crap

Only the blind can't see whats happening right in front of them. With the last AAA ported to Linux (Hitman) I saw the NORMAL Fury beating the 980Ti at 1080 Ultra -> http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...a-hitman&num=3

Are you trying to out-troll out resident troll (debianxfce)?

An open source kernel driver wouldn't change a thing here, as glvnd is a *userspace* thing. AMD not yet on board with glvnd simply means that those with an Intel/AMD GPU hybrid laptop will not be able to use amdgpu-pro. Whereas those with an Intel/Nvidia GPU hybrid will get proper Optimus support with the nvidia blob (without hacks like bumblebee), something people have been screaming about for years. Well, Nvidia is starting to deliver, glvnd is a stepping stone towards proper Optimus support. Mesa getting on board is another stepping stone.

So, unlike how you're trying to paint it, AMD not yet on board with glvnd is actually a *bad* thing (it's offset quite a bit by AMD's open source efforts, making amdgpu-pro less of a necessity, but still). And Nvidia is doing a really good thing here, glvnd is something Linux needed, and now it's happening.

Hmm, would "glvnd" be able to fix all those optimus problems people have had/are having?

AMD doesn't support it (PRO) because they have PRIME with the open source drivers, which serves that purpose?

ikey_solus Does this "GLVND" have anything to do with Solus upcoming optimus support?

Our PC? Does our resident troll share a PC with his siblings or something? Because our resident troll being a kid not old enough to even own their own computer would explain a lot.

i meant the arch linux mesa-git repo:

also the mesa cgit has a glvnd option, is up to the packager to enable or not
